Not Looking Good

1 Mar

this whole “moving”/ blog transformation bit is taking longer than i’d expected.

in the meantime, public service announcement!!!

the feds are threatening to drastically cut funding adolescent health programs.  this affects ALL of us in some way.  if not by completing ruining your life or the future of a child you know, you WILL feel it in your pockets!  why don’t people understand that prevention is always cheaper than after-the-fact?

take a moment (literally) to call or email your representative and help express the urgency of maintaining funding for adolescent health.

visit this link (or the one below) to find your representative then follow instructions  http://sparkaction.org/alert/save-adolescent-family-life-program  script may be altered for your specific state as this is a federal level budget cut and does not just affect georgia residents!!

  • Click here to find your Representative: here
  • Call the Capitol Switchboard at 202.224.3121 and then ask for the office of your representative.  Once connected, ask to speak with the health staffer or be connected to their voice mail.
  • When they answer or their VM picks up,  say:

“Hello my name is ___________ and I am calling as a constituent from ____________  and my zip code is __________.    I am calling to ask Representative _______  to support funding for health and prevention programs.  As a constituent, I ask that you strongly encourage Representative to vote AGAINST any budget bill that cuts funding for the Teen Pregnancy Prevention Initiative, Title X, the CDC, or Planned Parenthood.

The proposed cuts would have a devastating impact on efforts to prevent unintended pregnancy, HIV, and other STDs and would undermine women, young people, and low-income people’s access to health care.

These cuts are not about “fiscal responsibility” or “reducing government spending.” They are about eliminating vital prevention and health care programs and eliminating access to comprehensive sex education, family planning, sexual and reproductive health services, and HIV/STD prevention for those most in need.

In fact, this funding contributes to Georgia’s financial health- with lower teenage pregnancies and STIs, teen can graduate on time, attend higher education, and become part of the competitive work force in our state, therefore contributing positively to Georgia’s economy.

Again, please urge the representative to VOTE NO to cutting important Office of Adolescent Health/Teen Pregnancy Prevention funding.

 Thank you for your time.”

After that, unless they have any questions, say goodbye and hang up- you did your part!

thanks, sweet peachy citizens!  i suppose if this signals the end of my career, i can always up the side hustles…  make makeup and waitressing full time gigs?  woe is me…

Homewreckers!?

24 Aug

people LOVE to toss around the term “homewrecker” as if most homes aren’t already a wreck!  besides, i’m of the belief that a person can’t be stolen from another person.  sure, it’s possible one might plot on someone’s mate… slipping roofies and showing up to supposed business meetings in lacy lingerie.  other than those rare instances, people leave when they want, cheat as they please and lie as they see fit.

apparently, alicia keys-beats is trying to move on with her newly-married life and people want to give her flack… STILL!  she and mr. beats have exchanged high school pics as their twitter backgrounds and folks have a ton to say.  isn’t that what married (and people otherwise in love) do?  they gush over each other randomly while everyone else gags.  why does it matter that he actually had a past to speak of?  God forbid if i move on with my life and exes start coming out of the woodworks claiming ownership!  there’d certainly be a ton of peach-lickin’ lesbians in the “a” that day.

between, alicia, gabby (gabrielle union), fantasia and now, allegedly, monica (and a host of others)… a woman can’t catch a break.  let it go, folks!  it is, afterall, someone else’s life.  i’ve been accused of wrecking a home or two (in my younger, more whorish days).  but the term “wrecking” makes me think of hard work, bulldoozers, hardhats, rubble and such.  however, i remember thinking, “it really wasn’t that hard.”  get a grip, ladies.

buuuut then again, if someone steals my woman (provided i get one), you guys better be down for helping me whoop her home-wreckin’ tail to pulp!!!

Abort Mission!

2 Aug

in other news, i sorted through my receipts from the weekend (actual pic above) and concluded that the “hunt” for ms. relationship-in-time-for-winter is waaaaay too expensive as currently structured.  and this just a small portion of the money i threw away… attempting to douse my firey pain and frustration in vodka and tiny dresses.

i’m going to either devise “mission: lesbo hunt on a budget” or revert back to my selfish ways… focusing solely on work, school,… me.  think: me in a clay mask, t-shirt & panties, xmas socks in august… eating cookies, pepperjack cheese and wine with phil collins on the i-pod and my face buried deep in some new-agey book.  actually, doesn’t sound bad…
